The Birdie Club: Building a Community for Women
by Will Kent - Worldwide Golf
October 2024 : Golf in the UAE has long been associated with unspoiled greens, prestigious clubs, and an elite atmosphere. However, one initiative is working to make the sport more accessible to a growing community of women: The Birdie Club.
Founded in Dubai, this new ladies’ golf initiative is designed to offer a welcoming and inclusive environment for women interested in learning and playing the game of golf. Its mission is simple: to grow the sport by creating a sense of belonging among female golfers of all skill levels.
Since its launch in October 2023, The Birdie Club has flourished, expanding its presence in Dubai with aspirations to reach new Emirates. What sets this initiative apart from other golf programmes is its focus on community, creating a space where women feel empowered and supported in a traditionally male-dominated sport.
The Birdie Club’s 10-week programme offers structured group lessons with no more than six participants per session. This small group setting ensures that each player receives individual attention from coaches while benefiting from the camaraderie of learning alongside others.

The Birdie Club is an exciting new ladies’ golf community located at Trump International Golf Club.
“When I learnt to play golf, we would just hit on the range week-on-week, and it really lacked any social aspect,” said Harriet. “I wanted other ladies to get into golf and not have the same experience.”
The Birdie Club provides the opportunity for mixed-ability group golf lessons for ladies to both get into golf as well as improve their games.
The lesson programme is structured over 10 weeks to incorporate the key elements of the game,” added Harriet. “These include pitching, chipping, putting and the full swing through the 10 x one-hour lessons.”
The lessons are held in small groups of six ladies. They incorporate two on-course assessment lessons – where ladies use the exceptional Par 3 course at Trump International, along with their Teaching Professional, to also understand golf etiquette, golfing terminology as well as the Rules of Golf.
